Prof. Speicher – Liquid Biopsies
Liquid biopsies describe a spectrum of methods that can derive various diagnostic information from a simple blood sample. This project focuses on a novel patent-protected methods developed by Prof. Speicher and his team that are applicable to circulating cell-free DNA (cfDNA). The main goal is to establish a world-leading laboratory that focuses on analyzing these blood samples quickly and providing intuitive and well-explained results. These results would be the very first of their kind to be made available to clinicians, researchers and patients. They open up entirely new possibilities in precision medicine and for people who want to proactively monitor their health.

PD DDr. Tschauner - AI based software for the diagnosis of pediatric bone fractures.
Today, up to 10% of fractures in children are still misdiagnosed. In this project, an AI-based open source software including a database for the analysis/diagnosis of X-ray images will be developed for a more accurate determination of fractures in the hand of children. Especially younger physicians who do not yet have much experience in diagnosis, but also experienced physicians, can use the offered system to provide comprehensive support and validation of their diagnosis. Based on a standard AI algorithm, the software or database can be applied in the future to a wide variety of fractures from the different body regions.
